By the end of this session students will be able to:

  • define and describe abstracts
  • discuss good and bad abstracts
  • write an abstract of their bachelor´s thesis
  • write a summary/abstract of an scientific article
  • give valuable feedback about their peers´ paragraphs / abstract

LEARNING AIMS:
By the end of this session students will be able to:

  • describe and discuss research and development in technical companies
  • describe and discuss research and development processes
  • describe research results using appropriate language structures and specific terminology
  • correct technical articles (reading task)

In order to reach these aims, please complete the following tasks:

  • have a look at the Research study set on Quizlet
  • FACEBOOK / Blog : your teacher will  post different small tasks worth 100 participation points - have a look at them and complete some of them and you´ll get the announced number of participation points! 


Abstracts

Upload your abstract onto Office 365 by the 14th of November. A link to your folder and to the two folders of the people whose abstract you should comment on will be made available by your teacher.

 

Write your two peer reviews by the 16th of November and upload them onto Office 365. Please use the word documents that have been created for this purpose.

 

Read the peer reviews you have received, correct / polish your abstract, include comments about the two peer revies and upload your polished abstract by the 18th of November.

 

Your corrections will be uploaded onto Office 365 by the 22nd of November at the latest.

  • use modal verbs
  • describe and discuss production facilities
  • describe and discuss machinery and production processes
  • describe materials that are needed for production processes

In order to reach these aims, please complete the following tasks:

  • watch the modals video (Jimdo)
  • have a look at the Production study set on Quizlet

  • describe and discuss workplace hazards
  • discuss measures to avoid workplace hazards
  • prepare safety instructions using modal verbs
  • describe PPE and discuss when it should be used

Moreover students will have the possibility to discuss any and all issues related to the second e-learning session

LEARNING AIMS:

By the end of this session students will be able to:

  • use past modals
  • report safety incidents using past modals and the passive voice
  • describe work-related injuries
